Affirmation Meditation for Artists & Performers
Monday Apr 26, 2021
Monday Apr 26, 2021
As an actor and singer for many years there’s been a trend. I practice and memorize my lines to give a performance. I sometimes nail the audition and wonder what went wrong when I don’t book the job. Self-doubt and the array of questions. Am I too short, too overweight, too skinny, too tall, am I talented? I need the job to pay my bills/rent. As Matthieu Ricard writer and Buddhist Monk state: Anyone who enjoys inner peace is no more broken by failure than he is inflated by success.
We ask so many questions about an audition and yet, we have no control over the outcome. If we did our best and were true to ourselves and the character – this is where our commitment ends. We are enough. We’re empathic beings putting our heart and soul into our art. If we continue thinking, how could I have done the performance differently we dwell in the past. We can’t change the past. The pandemic caused many of us artists, to evaluate our decisions, our passions, and our worth. Know that you are enough. You have value and you are powerful. Keeping your power and relinquish the perception of what life should be. Life is smoother if you allow it to thrive. Quiet the mind and allow your soul to speak. What happens will happen – our will can only cover our own lives.
Two quotes From The Diary for Life
To be happy you don’t need to be perfect. You just need to be real and accept yourself as you are because you are already enough. Don’t lose your today while chasing your forever.
Make sure you’re in a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed. Take a deep breath, hold for the count of four and release to the count of six. Repeat three times.
I am enough
I feel I am enough
I have value
I feel my value
I am powerful
I accept my power
I am passionate
I feel passionate
I feel the soul of the character
I am the soul of the character
I am Joyful
I feel joyful
I am happiness
I feel happy
I am compassionate
I feel compassion
I am a pure soul
I feel my soul is pure
If your mind starts to wander bring it back to the breath.
Repeat 2 more times
Much love and blessings.

Perceptions of the Mind
Monday Apr 12, 2021
Monday Apr 12, 2021
In this episode, we discuss perceptions of the mind and how our thoughts create our behavior. We visit the soul and how our beliefs can block us. Some suggestions on exploring your perceptions. The poem Alone from Inspire Me: Perception is read.
Alone
Sitting on a solid branch
There’s clarity and confusion, just staring out
No movement in the muddled-
Beauty of branches and options
Perceiving thoughts of entangled leaves
Do I proceed into the unknown?
Can there be escape, once entered?
What’s there?
The mind tangles the web of life for us
Clarity holds thin branches, which
Negates the weight of experiences
Therefore, I sit still—frozen
Loneliness, chirping for attention
No sounds, utters, or voices
Ignored
Then movement
A lonely soul approaches
Understanding the perched cry
Holding strong on the solid branch
I’m heard, companion approaches
Kind eyes of sympathy
Warm white glow of self
Listened to anger of
Discontent and fear
Flying away
Above the tree of misperceptions
Where it’s all clear
Where the heart breathes
